First ever National Cruise Week

The UK’s first ever National Cruise Week will take place next month, with travel companies from across the UK teaming up to promote the vast diversity of cruise holidays.

National Cruise Week will take place between 7 September to the 14 September with over 2,000 travel agents and tour operators organising events aimed at promoting world cruises and advertising the variety of packages and itineraries available.

Andy Harmer, business development director of the Association of Cruise Experts, said that cruising has become "ever more popular" of late.

"National Cruise Week is a great way to show that there really is a cruise for everyone. The choice now offered by companies is immense – there is a cruise to suit all ages and all pockets, you can find intimacy or full-on fun, snow or sun, desert or jungle, relaxation or activity, the choice is truly endless," he explained.

It has been reported by the Press Association this week that the cruise sector is anticipated to grow by 14 per cent this year as more and more people take to the seas for their holidays.

There are a number of popular cruise companies operating from the UK including Royal Caribbean Cruises, P&O Cruises and Celebrity Cruises.
